Guided Meditations & Visualizations

An integral part of my journey of cultivating creative freedom through thought inquiry has been the practice of quieting my mind and centering my thoughts through meditation. I’ve discovered that it doesn’t require any special processes or prolonged sitting. These simple and intentional meditations have been sufficient for feeling more peace, calm, and confidence in my art practice (and in every other area of life).

Meditation serves to bring me to the truth of who I am, the identity that I choose for myself, and a grounding gratitude for every inch of growth. Visualizations are different from meditation in that visualizations are specifically designed to help create new thoughts and beliefs, open my mind to new possibilities, and align my desires for how I want to express my creativity with the actual actions I take to do so.

These visualizations are designed to be fun and expansive. They are specifically created to invite you to open your mind to what you want to create beyond what you have created so far…even if that new creation is “just” a deeper level of satisfaction and self-appreciation in what you already have created. As you dive into the visualizations I have created for you, you may start to form more individualized details for yourself in which case I encourage you to write them down, record them on your phone or computer, and create your own guided visualizations. Your own voice is the most believable to your subconscious (regardless of whether or not you like the sound of it recorded or not) so creating your own visualizations can amplify your results even more.

Now, go ahead and get started whenever you’re ready!

Meditations

This first meditation is what I would consider the foundation of all my work, creatively or otherwise. It can feel awkward at first to affirm that you love and accept yourself but once you practice it a few times, any sort of frustration or agitation around who you are and how you are showing up for your creative impulses softens and you will feel a bit more gentleness towards yourself. It becomes a new program running in the background of your subconscious and it is so much more powerful than it may seem at first. I recommend doing this short meditation at least daily, ideally first thing in the morning and/or last thing before going to sleep. It will calm your nervous system and orient your thoughts towards self-compassion and openness.
