Slow Summer Original Painting Series - "Saving Seeds"

$100.00
sold out

The moody magic of late summer is captured in this original mixed media painting, full of both fluidity and sturdiness, rest and vast energy, high noon light and new moon night.

Overgrown vegetable gardens, shaggy edges of meadows, hot high noons and cool evening breezes, sunsets behind the deckled tree line, peach juice dripping down your arms, bats swooping in the low light of candles on the patio, slow conversations about dreams unfolding, the body holding the bounty while tuning towards rest.

So many deeeeeeep breaths built this work - each one an offering for you to take all the space you need to savor the days as they bring their ends closer together.

Each piece measures 8” x 10”, mixed media on deckled, handmade paper and finished with a luminous layer of encaustic medium. Composition intentionally allows for hanging any way the orientation resonates with you.

Domestic shipping included.

Recommended framing method is a shadowbox style frame that allows the texture of the deckled edges to shine. It’s not recommended that encaustic medium is in contact with glass so any framing method that allows for space between glass, if preferred, is ideal.

Happy (US) Thanksgiving! This is us today - hunkered down in one of our favorite places on earth: Jedediah Smith State Park. These redwoods have given us respite when we were new parents decades ago and needed to break up the daily routine of wiping
While I’m painting the new drawer faces for the kitchen, vacuuming the studio, and cleaning my “new” vintage cabinet to fill with miscellaneous studio supplies, I’m also thinking about how good it feels to be focused on what I Autumn has fully taken hold of our valley. When I drive to town, I look more at the canopies of brilliant red and orange than at the road, I’m afraid.

We’ve had some days of warm sun and I’ve been using the non-rain days to get so
